Royal Gorge, Colorado is the home of the world's longest and tallest suspension bridge. Constructed in the 1920-1930's to support mining operations it now is a tourist attraction with several rides and views to take in. The bridge is just over 1/4 mile long and it is well over 1100 ft above the water in the river. The bridge was brought up to today's safety standards and supports two-lane traffic and pedestrians. This bridge may not be for the weak at heart, but sports some incredible views as you can see.

Clock at Royal Gorge.JPG (161898 bytes) The clock at Royal Gorge runs off of water turning all the gears that make up the clock. This clock shows Season, year, month, day, as well as the time. It looked pretty accurate to us.
Incline train at Royal Gorge.JPG (106126 bytes) The Incline Railroad is one of the attractions at Royal Gorge. We got there too late to see it in action or to take a ride to the bottom, however as you can see, and as the name implies this train goes straight up and down.

All Aboard, Anybody???

View from Royal Gorge 2.JPG (64150 bytes) This picture shows some of the shear rugged terrain. Can you imagine traversing this canyon before the days of the bridge?
